This weekend marked the beginning of the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl. An event put on by South Shore Tourism Cooperative annually to bring tourists to Nova Scotia in the winter months, during lobster season.
Lucy the Lobster is the mascot for the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl which kicked off this weekend. In total there will be over 150 events going on in association with the Lobster Crawl. This past weekend hosted two of the largest events on the calendar.
On Sunday the mascot of the festival Lucy the Lobster did her best Shubenackdie Sam impression. Lucy agreed that Nova Scotia will be experiencing another six weeks of Winter.
Lucy drew quite the crowd with South Shore MP Bernadette Jordan, Warden Eddie Nickerson, and local MLA Colton LeBlanc in attendance to help Lucy in and out of the water.
The second event which is arguably the marquee event of the entire festival was the Lobster Roll-Off competition, where a group of judges declares who serves the best lobster roll on the South Shore.
The 2020 title returned to Capt. Kat’s Lobster Shack in Barrington who last won the award in 2018. Splitting up the two wins was Bridgewaters’ 27 South who won the 2019 award.
In second place was Nova Scotia’s Rollies of Shelburne, taking third was Lane’s Privateer Inn in Liverpool.
