Lunenburg native Lucy Morrow will be the latest Maritime contestant on the Food Networks’ Top Chef Canada.
Morrow who is just 26 is one of the shows’ youngest competitors, which is par for the course in her career.
She got her first taste for working in a kitchen at a young age ” At 10 I was doing food prep for family and friends, then I sort of just ran with it.”
After that Morrow went on to study at Holland Colege’s Culinary Institute. She has since gone on to work at some of the top restaurants on Prince Edward Island. At 21 she was named Executive Chef at Row House Lobster Company. She then worked at Terre Rogue in Charlottetown eventually becoming their Executive Chef. Most recently she accepted a new Co-chef position at The Pearl in North Rustico, PEI.
For Morrow, the show is an opportunity to see where she stacks up against the nations best “I’ve seen some of the best Chefs in the country on Top Chef Canada and I want to see where I stand.” It also seems like a good fit for someone as competitive as her “One of my friends got on the show when he was 28, so I said fine I want to make it on before then.”
Morrow credits her success to the hard work she has put in over the years “You have to have the drive, I’ve had hard days, long days but those are where you learn the most.”
The show challenges the chefs to cook meals with limited ingredients, but Morrow says she still was able to make one dish that will be familiar to Lunenburg County “You’ll have to watch, but I did make one dish specifically with Lunenburg in mind.”
