Bulky waste will not be collected throughout Lunenburg County on April 1st due to Covid-19.
A new bi-weekly landfill item collection was set to kick off at the beginning of the month, but due to new public health restrictions, the Lunenburg Regional Community Recycling Centre has delayed it to a later date.
Stephanie Smits, Outreach & Communications supervisor for LRCRC said everything is still set up for the collection to begin.
“This is being done to ensure the safety of the waste haulers for the time being,” she said.
“It will be launched shortly, although we are not sure when at this time, but it will still go ahead for the public.”
With the LRCRC being closed to the public, Smits said residents will have to hold their items a bit longer.
“We ask the public just to hold on to it for the time being,” she said.
“It may be a bit of an inconvenience, but it will eventually take place, so store it safely on your property for the meantime.”
Smits says they expect the collection to begin shortly, and updates will come when a date has been set.
She also noted that wood and metal collection will still go ahead as planned in the Fall.
