The Lunenburg County Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee is seeking feedback on what accessibility challenges and solutions exist in our area.
The committee is a collaboration between the Town of Bridgewater, Town of Mahone Bay, Town of Lunenburg, Municipality of the District of Chester, and Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.
Sarah Kucharski, Communications Officer for the MODL encourages everyone even if you do not personally accessibility limitations.
“Even if you know someone, this survey will be used to guide policies around the county so the more people we hear from the better,” She said.
Municipal governments around the province were mandated to develop strategies as part of the Nova Scotia government’s Accessibility Act.
Anyone who wants to submit their input can do so through an online survey. The survey closes on June 10.
Kucharski says they plan to have a completed accessibility plan by Spring 2021 but changes will be implemented earlier if possible.
“The plan should be done by April, then we will begin implementation,” she adds “If we something that can be implemented quickly we will be doing that throughout and some things have already been implemented.”
