With Canada Day coming up next week on Wednesday, let’s celebrate some of the great food creations from Canada! Three categories:
Food ingredient suggestions –
Peanut Butter , invented in Montreal in the late 1800’s
Maple Syrup – Quebec in the 1700s or earlier
Tomato Ketchup – Nova Scotia in the 1700’s
Yukon Gold Potatoes – Guelph, Ontario in the sixties
And my pick is… peanut butter, of course.
Canadian Dishes – Poutine, Halifax Donair, Hawaiian Pizza and California Rolls. This was a tough choice for me, but Poutine over Donair.
Canadian Desserts – Nanaimo Bars, Beaver Tails, Butter Tarts, and the McFlurry. A controversial pick from me but the Bathurst New Brunswick Mcdonalds invention of the McFlurry wins!
Canadian Drinks – Ginger Ale, Clamato Juice , the Caesar, and the Boilermaker. Ginger Ale is my pick!
Now, what are your choices in the 4 categories? Best Canadian ingredient, main dish, dessert and drink?
