The Wile Carding Mill Museum reopened to the public on Monday.
Usually they close from September to June and reopen on June 1, but had to wait until restrictions were lifted.
Heritage Interpreter Linda Uhlman said they have had to make some changes to accommodate social distancing and other public health protocols in place.
“We need you to make an appointment because we have to be sure that there are no more than ten people in the building at a time,” she said.
Due to social distancing requirements they aren’t able to do interactive displays like wool carding, spinning and running the wheel.
Despite the restrictions Uhlman says it is still worth coming to visit for the historical value.
“We have a display on early women workers, who would have been 14-15 years old at the time, just children, and we have information on 7 of them and what the working conditions would have been like for them,” she said.
The museum is operating on reduced hours-by appointment only-Monday to Friday from 12-4 PM. You can make an appointment by calling 902-543-8233.
