Queensland Beach was closed last Wednesday over water quality concerns specifically high levels of enterococci bacteria.
Lifeguard services were suspended, according to a post on the Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society website, and people were advised not to swim at the beach, which is located in Hubbards.
Communications Director for Nova Scotia Environment Rachel Boomer, says the high levels of bacteria are not unusual.
“Surface water quality is very variable and can change quickly over time, and may be impacted by weather patterns such as high wind and heavy rain.”
The beach remained closed until yesterday.
