The Nova Scotia Health Authority says the private information of 211 people was recently breached in two separate incidents.
According to the Progressive Conservative Health Critic, Karla MacFarlane the latest breaches are another in a trend that she considers “appalling”.
MacFarlane says this adds to the 850 breaches already reported this year and she says it’s time for the government to take a serious look at data security.
In a statement, she said, “It’s clear as day that the McNeil government has a fundamental problem with safeguarding confidential information.”
The NSHA says they will be reaching out to those affected by the latest breaches by letter to let them know what information was compromised and what precautions they should take.
At this time they have not committed to an investigation into the breaches though it is possible that could change in the coming days.
