What has been a relatively dry summer has led to water shortages in Barrington with reports of wells running low or dry coming from around the community.
In an effort to help the community the Barrington and Town of Clark’s Harbour Emergency Management Organization (EMO) are offering some ways for residents to stock up on water.
They have set up water hoses at various locations around the community where people can come and fill their containers with non-potable water. The water stations are located at Barrington Port Latour Fire Hall, RV Dumping Station on Sherose Island, Island Barrington Passage Fire Hall and the Woods Harbour Shag Harbour Fire Hall. Before picking up water from Woods Harbour they ask that you call the fire department ahead of time.
Fire Departments will also begin weekly water deliveries starting Wednesday, August 12. If you wish to schedule a delivery you need to provide your own containers and have them ready for when fire crews arrive. The delivery water is also non-potable and you will be required to sign a waiver acknowledging that.
You can call the participating fire departments to schedule delivery. The stations offering deliveries are the Barrington Port Latour Fire Hall (902-635-4019), Island Barrington Passage Fire Department Area (902-637-7381 or 902-745-0228) and the Woods Harbour Shag Harbour Fire Department (902-723-2455).
The Barrington and Town of Clark’s Harbour EMO also note that they will not be filling any wells on deliveries.
