Ross Farm Museum is now open to the public, but you must book an appointment to visit.
Director Peter Cullen says this is to ensure that they follow social gathering restrictions that are in place of no more than 10 people.
The museum has been closed to the public since March 12 although staff have been back at work for a couple of months.
During the closure staff have kept busy upgrading the farm. All fences have been redone and a stimulus package from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal allowed for six buildings to have the roof replaced.
Director Peter Cullen says they have been making sure all the details are in place in preparation for opening.
“We were sprucing the place up and getting it ready to look better than ever. We were also developing our opening plan,” he said.
That plan included an online booking system for visitors to book a visit to the farm, and setting up an online gift shop through Shopify so the farm can be opened safely in the pandemic context.
“We are following all the public health authority guidelines on how to run a business during COVID-19, so we have to maintain the six-foot social distancing, wear masks in public areas, and sanitize,” he said.
With current restrictions, visitors are limited to ten in the morning and ten in the afternoon.
“That is so we can sanitize between bookings. We are going to adapt as COVID moves along, I imagine that in a couple of weeks if COVID behaves we will be able to increase our bookings,” said Cullen.
The museum will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 9:30-12 and 2-4:30.
