The Bluenose II provided a special treat for its local yacht club over the weekend as it made a trip to Hermans Island to visit the Lunenburg Yacht Club.
At 7:00 p.m. it rounded Second Penisula and unfurrowed its sails as it made the short trip to the LYC.
The schooner was joined by about a dozen boats which followed it into the harbour, as well there was an event at the Yacht Club for those who wanted watch from ashore.
The event was part of the Bluenose II’s Atlantic Tour which has been a unique experience with the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing. Typically the Bluenose II travels around the country and invites people to come out on the boat for a tour but with current restrictions in place that service is not being offered this year.
The schooner is still traveling around the Nova Scotia this summer with stops along the South Shore, Cape Breton, and the Halifax Regional Municipality still on the horizon. Originally as they made their COVID-19 plans they had said they would be doing some sail bys in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island but the schedule currently posted on their website does not list any such plans.
