Minister of Lands and Forestry Iain Rankin announced on Monday he is running to be the next Nova Scotia Liberal Leader and Premier.
During his announcement speech, it was made clear that the environment will be a key part of his platform saying “the time to act is now.”
On his campaign website, he outlines some key environmental priorities like getting Nova Scotia off coal, making energy efficiency upgrades and investing in green technology.
Rankin has already received some key endorsements from high-ranking Nova Scotia Liberals including Education Minister Zach Churchill, Energy Minister Derek Mombourquette, Municipal Affairs Minister Chuck Porter amongst others.
He joins Minister of Labour and Advanced Education Labi Kousoulis to make it a two-man race, the deadline for any other candidates to register their intent to run is October 9.
