Heavy snowfall is blanketing the South Shore prompting a plea from the Lunenburg District RCMP for people to stay off the roads.
Sgt. Mark MacPherson says they’ve already seen multiple vehicles stranded on the side of the road.
“It’s just not safe right now, so we are asking people to stay off the roads if possible until the snowfall has stopped,” MacPherson said.
MacPherson specifically asked that people try and stay off Highway 103 as he says conditions on it are currently very slippery.
Visibility is heavily reduced currently as a result of the heavy snowfall and road conditions are worsening.
The RCMP are not reporting any major incidents currently, but they want people to stay off the roads so they can help those already stranded by the storm.
Coastal areas of the South Shore could see up to 15 centimeters of snow while inland communities could see as much as 25 centimeters.
