After winning the Nova Scotia Liberal Leadership Race this weekend Premiere Designate Iain Rankin ran into a case of mistaken identity.
A few concerned citizens reached out to the newly elected Premier with questions on what they believed to be his Twitter account.
Unfortunately, some of the tweets ended up being sent to Scottish author Ian Rankin who took it in stride.
The author who is best known for his crime thrillers like Inspector Rebus tweeted “Do I get to nationalize Tim Horton’s? At the very least the sausage biscuit?”
He went on to make a few more jokes over the confusion, saying that he will visit Nova Scotia after he’s finished with some projects with a plumbing company that bears his name.
It all appears to have been in good fun and for anyone looking to avoid the confusion in the future should use the Twitter handle @IainTRankin to contact the newly elected Premier.
Liberals preparing for transition
The Nova Scotia Liberal Party announced the team that will oversee the leadership transition today.
The transition team members are:
- — Diana Whalen, transition team chair, former MLA and provincial minister of several cabinet portfolios
- — Don Bureaux, president and CEO of NSCC
- — David Cameron, lawyer at Burchells LLP
- — Frances Martin, retired deputy minister
- — Brandon Rolle, managing lawyer, Nova Scotia Legal Aid
- — Dale Palmeter, campaign advisor and ex-officio member of the transition team
“I am ready to dig in, and I appreciate the efforts senior officials have already begun to make this a seamless transition. I am also thankful for the six capable Nova Scotians who have agreed to lead this important transition work,” said Mr. Rankin. “This is an incredible province, with great people, resilience, and talent, and I’m looking forward to getting down to work to move us all forward.”
Rankin’s cabinet selections will be one of his first job’s and his office says a swear-in date will be announced shortly.
