The former chair of the South Shore Regional School Board is seeking the nomination as the Liberal candidate in Lunenburg West.
Jennifer Naugler of Hebbs Cross made the announcement on her newly created social media page Wednesday night.
”Over the last several weeks a number of community members approached me about seeking the nomination. I had many conversations with my family and close circle of friends and found a lot of support for me to run,” said Naugler. “I am confident I do have the experience, the understanding of the community and the support I need to step up and take on this challenge.”
Naugler was first elected and served as a school board member in 2012. She was immediately elected as Chair, which she served for three terms and continued in the role until school boards were dissolved in 2018.
“I am known in Bridgewater and in the many communities outside of town. I have worked with numerous businesses and community groups and these projects have really helped me become even more knowledgeable about this community and its needs. I understand the issues that are on people’s minds.” said Naugler.
She recently established Simple Local Life, a local media company, following a year of blogging about her life in Lunenburg County. Her work focuses on assisting businesses and organizations create digital content and to maximize their social media success.
Naugler is active in the Home and School association and School Advisory Committee at Hebbville Academy, and currently volunteers with the United Way and the RootEd School Food Project.
The nomination to carry the Liberal banner in the riding of Lunenburg West will be contested as Patty Culbert announced earlier this week she was also seeking the nomination.
Current MLA Mark Furey has already announced he will not seek re-election.
