According to the South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE), one of their school buses struck some powerlines as it was driving students home.
Communication Director for the SSRCE Ashley Gallant says no one was injured on the bus that services Route 122 which serves students at various Liverpool schools.
She says parents with children on the bus were quickly informed about the incident and they were alerted drop-offs would be running about an hour behind schedule.
Details surrounding the collision are still sparse and it is unknown if the power lines were already downed when the bus struck them or if it was the bus that caused the lines to fall.
Nova Scotia Power was called to the scene to assist and no major outages were caused by the incident. As of 4:30 p.m. this afternoon NS Power estimates only five households were left without power and their outage site estimates it will be restored early this evening.
