The Minister of Health is reacting to the long-term care investment.
Zach Churchill talks about what it means for facilities on the South Shore.
“We’re replacing the beds at Harbourview Haven in Lunenburg, Hillsview Acres in Greenfield, Queens Manor in Liverpool and Roseway Manor will be replaced as well, we know that’s an important facility in the Shelburne area,” said Churchill.
He said many will be satisfied with the projects.
“These are the facilities that we know have the greatest need for renewal. There will be thousands of people across the province that will benefit from these new builds. We are really excited to make this announcement today.”
Churchill says with new beds coming in, there won’t be as long of a wait to get into long-term care facilities across the province.
The provincial average is five to six months, and Churchill says when all of these renovations happen, the wait time will be reduced to two months.
In total, the province will invest over $96 million.
