Tory Leader Tim Houston says the province’s more than $600 million deal with Ottawa to create cheaper day care is a step in the right direction.
Fees will be cut in half by next year and down to ten-dollars a day by 2026.
But Houston tells Huddle Today it doesn’t go far enough as working families in Nova Scotia are struggling right now.
“The problems, the challenges that working families are facing, they’re facing them now, and we need real solutions today,” Houston says.
Houston adds the official opposition is always ready for an election to be called, and is focused on immediate solutions to grow the province’s economy and health care sector.
The provincial election could occur anytime between now and next spring.
