The Hank Snow Tribute Festival has been canceled for the third consecutive year due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter written by the organizing committee, they say the Board of Directors of the Friends of Hank Snow Society who run the Hank Snow Home Town Museum in Liverpool voted against putting on this year’s event. The letter said the Board was concerned “due to uncertainties with border crossings between provinces and the USA,”.
This year’s event would have been the 30th edition of the festival which invites country musicians to perform and celebrate the career of local music legend Hank Snow.
In normal years the festival brings an estimated 2,000 people to the region which comes with a significant economic boost.
While the festival will not take place there are plans for smaller events to take place in lieu.
Currently, there are plans for a Summer Festival held July 22-23 and a Mini Tribute will be held August 18-21. More details on these events will be released in the future.
In addition to those events the organizing committee is also working on putting on additional events but no further details have been announced as of yet.
