Netflix has announced that the third season of its fantasy show Locke and Key will be concluding in its third season.
The show utilized Lunenburg as a primary filming location for all three seasons with the town serving as Locke & Key’s fictional town of Matheson, Massachusetts.
The show was one of the larger productions in recent years on the South Shore and utilized many locals as part of the production crew.
Locke & Key premiered in February 2020. Its Season 2 renewal was announced in March 2020. The Season 3 order was revealed in December of that year, with the two seasons filming back-to-back. Season 2 was released in October 2021.
Fans of the show will be pleased to hear that the show was not canceled but rather will offer a conclusion to the series that the streaming giant hopes will leave fans satisfied.
In an interview with Deadline Hollywood showrunners, Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill explained they had always planned a three-season arc.
“Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,”
Filming for the third season wrapped up in Luneburg earlier this fall, with it now in post-production scheduled for release on February 7.
