Please join us in an opportunity to provide a meaningful contribution towards Truth and Reconciliation. This event will serve as a conduit for remembrance, reflection, action and learning about the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools.
We will start with a small ceremony at Pijinuiskaq Park, which will include guest speakers. Further details to follow.
Immediately following the ceremony, participants are invited to help create awareness by walking together through town. The walk route will start at Pijinuiskaq Park and proceed down King St., crossing Veterans Memorial Bridge, back up Lahave St. and ending in the parking lot adjacent to Tim Hortons. Route is approximately 1.1 kilometers and takes about 14 plus minutes. A map of route is provided in discussions.
Participants are requested to wear an orange shirt to honour the Survivors of residential schools as well as those who never returned home.
***COVID-19 Public Health Protocols will be in place; ie: Social Distancing and Masking requirements***
